2022 Spirit of MAWLE Awards Ceremony
On Thursday, June 16th, 2022, the Massachusetts Association of Women in Law Enforcement hosted its 10th annual Spirit of MAWLE Award Ceremony. Six awards were presented to women in law in law enforcement in various categories of excellence. Additionally, our annual scholarship was awarded to a graduating high school senior and several more females were recognized for their contributions to the criminal justice field.
2022 Award Winners
Award Categories & Winners:
Excellence in Performance – Trooper Emily Nugent (Massachusetts State Police)
Leadership – Superintendent Danielle Frane (Norfolk County Sheriff’s Office)
Mentoring – Detective Billie Jean Kanavich (Boston University Police Department)
Courage – Sergeant Cassandra Scott (Stow Police Department)
Community Service – Officer Gaetana DiCenso (Wellesley Police Department)
Civilian Achievement – Laura Bullis, LCSW (BMC Jail Diversion Program)
We also recognized numerous other females from various departments and agencies who were nominated and recognized for their outstanding achievements within their field. They each received a certificate of special recognition.
During the award ceremony, our scholarship committee was proud to present this year’s Lieutenant June T. Murphy Scholarship to Emma Hartigan!
